Information Collection and Privacy Protection
The ANZCTR makes every effort to adhere to guidelines developed by the Australian Privacy Commissioner for Government web sites (Guidelines for Federal and ACT Government World Wide Websites). In particular we make every effort to comply with Information Privacy Principles (see Glossary 1 to 3 and 10 and 11 of the Privacy Act (a copy of the Act is available at SCALEplus, the legal information retrieval system owned by the Australian Attorney General's Department).

Your E-mail Address
ANZCTR will only record your e-mail address in the event that you apply for a password in order to register a trial, if you register a clinical trial detailing your email address as the official trial contact, send us a message by e-mail requesting information, or if you subscribe to forthcoming publications (eg ANZCTR Newsletter). Your e-mail address will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and will not be added to any mailing lists without your prior consent by way of a specific request in writing. We will not use or disclose your e-mail address for any other purpose, without your prior written consent.
Personal Information
Any information collected as part of your personal and or professional profile will be used only for the purposes of the ANZCTR's personalisation functions, and will not be used for any other purpose or passed to any other organisation. Personal information provided as the official contact for an individual clinical trial, as a requirement of the ANZCTR registration process, will be publicly available on the website.
Cookies
The ANZCTR uses a 'cookie' for maintaining contact with you throughout your time logged on to the website (session). A cookie is a small file that a web site transfers to your computer's hard disk allowing our server to remember specific information about your session. They are used to record what parts of the website you visit.
Cookies may also be used for authentication purposes, and to improve security during a visitor's session online.
Cookies may store the following information: session (numbered key) and duration. A numbered key is a unique server generated number used to identify the current session. The session key can be linked back to a user's login identification.
Unique identifiers (such as login identification) are collected from Web site visitors to verify the user's identity and for use as account numbers in our record system.
Disabling cookies will prevent you from using the website, particularly for entering new trials, and accessing trial information. (A helpful explanation of cookies can be found at the site of the Australian Privacy Commissioner).
Security Level
The ANZCTR website has been tested to an advanced level of site security. Security is provided for your personal selections and pages of interest by use of a user-provided Username and Password combination.
Information that is of a sensitive nature, or not available except to identified users, are transmitted using encryption technology.
